Cooking Solutions

The Brief

“Create a series of disruptive concepts which provide a reliable, environmentally responsible and premium cooking experience for up to three weeks off grid camping, with a particular focus on indoor/ outdoor cooking and multifunctionality.”

Research

The research phase of the project involved looking into documentation that had already been created by the company's R+D team and using it to further the research areas, including:

  • Understanding company and industry trend reports,

  • Current products (standard and “revolutionary”),

  • Patent research,

  • Speaking to caravan/ RV manufacturers.

Design

Using the obtained research and any current company ideas, a series of initial concepts were created before being presented to the Design Manager and the project supervisor. The design process involved:

  • Hand sketching,

  • Solidworks modelling,

  • Rendering using PhotoView 360.

 

 

Additional work included creating refrigeration concepts in correspondence with The Netherlands based section of the design team. These concepts were still relating to multifunctional usage and being used both indoors and outdoors.

Skills Used and Gained

Hand sketching and rendering techniques;

Solidworks (solid modelling and assembly);​

PhotoView 360;

Report generation and presentation skills;

Using Windchill PDM software;

Communication with colleagues, OEM's and suppliers.
