Craft Knife - Design for Plastic Moulding
The Task
"To model a craft knife, using injection moulding guidelines to ensure successful, theoretical, moulding."
Design
Modelled on Solidworks using surfacing techniques to allow a curved shape. Modelled using the master modelling technique to ensure all part fit together when assembled. The knife was then rendered using PhotoView 360.
Mould created using the mould feature included within Solidworks.

Draft analysis used to ensure the design meets necessary guidelines.
Plastics flow add-in used to determine injection points for a balanced fill time, cool time and reduced sink marks and air gaps.
